Ini bukan cerita soal wisata kuliner, bukan pula soal kemampuan inovasi dari sekelompok masyarakat. Ini adalah daftar panjang dari temuan aneka makanan aneh bin ajaib yang bisa jadi sudah sering kita konsumsi:

- Telur ayam kampung palsu yang dibuat dengan merendam telur ayam biasa di dalam larutan pencuci porselin/kloset
- Siomay dan empek-empek yang dibuat dari daging ikan sapu-sapu
- Daging ayam tiren (mati kemaren/bangkai)
- Bakso yang mengandung borax dan formalin
- Tahu berformalin plus pemutih

Tapi tewas karena terinjak-injak, terdesak desak, ataupun kehabisan napas karena berebut zakat adalah sebuah tragedi. Tak perlu mencari tahu dimana kambing hitam bersembunyi. Cukuplah dengan membathin: mengapa untuk memperoleh santunan orang perlu berebut?

Cinta Ayat-ayatMu

Hari ini tiba-tiba ingatanku melayang ke masa kanak-kanak, saat jubah putih berselempang merah sering kukenakan. Ya, masa indah di dalam komunitas putra altar. Sungguh sepenggal sejarah dalam hidupku yang sangat berarti. Dari sanalah aku banyak belajar tentang Yesusku, juga tentang GerejaMu, dan terlebih lagi… tentang Ayat-ayatMu yang indah!

Di paroki Bantul yang jauh dari keramaian, kami para putra altar tak hanya melayani romo saat misa berlangsung. Kami juga berkebun ketela, bermain kasti, berlatih teater, dan.. kami juga punya tugas khusus: membuat poster setiap minggu! Ya, poster besar dengan judul besar di atasnya, "BACAAN MISA MINGGU INI".

Secara bergantian, aku dan teman-temanku membuat ilustrasi atas perikop yang dibacakan pada setiap minggunya. Jangan bayangkan pada jaman itu ada komputer. Semuanya kami kerjakan dengan mengandalkan spidol warna-warni, crayon dan gambar-gambar yang kami potong dari koran dan majalah. Romo telah menyediakan kertas coklat ukuran besar untuk kami. Belakangan kami baru tahu kalau kertas coklat itu adalah kertas yang biasa dipakai untuk membungkus paket kiriman.

Kalau mengingatnya, ah.. betapa lucunya ilustrasi kami. Hampir semua putra altar se-angkatanku adalah anak-anak usia SD. Saat perikop misa bertemakan Yesus membangkitkan orang mati, bisakah anda bayangkan apa yang kami gambar? Ya, kami gambar orang berjubah dengan baju bersinar sedang bersanding dengan pocong yang tersenyum lebar.. hahaha..

Poster yang kami buat terpasang di depan pintu masuk gereja. Sering kali kami sengaja berdiri lama di depan gereja menjelang misa. Untuk apa? Untuk melihat reaksi orang terhadap poster yang kami buat. Betapa bangganya kami bila umat berkerumun di depan poster dan mengamati poster yang kami buat. Rasanya dada ini mau meledak karena bangga!

Setiap minggu membuat ilustrasi atas ayat-ayat injil membuat kami akrab dengan sabda Tuhan. Terlebih kami tak hanya membaca dan menuliskan di atas poster, kami pun harus membuat ilustrasi. Dan untuk itu kami harus berdiskusi dan mencari tahu makna sabda Tuhan yang hendak kami gambarkan. Tentu saja diskusi a la anak SD. Aku tak membayangkan bahwa kegiatan sederhana ini bakal menjadi bekal yang sangat berharga bagi kehidupan rohaniku di kemudian hari.

Hari ini aku pun sadar, bahwa semua itu sudah berlalu 30 tahun silam. Namun kenangan indah masa kecil terlalu sulit untuk dilupakan. Saat-saat kami belajar mencintai ayat-ayatMu dengan cara yang unik!

Baru saja lepas dari pengukur waktu untuk menghitung berapa lama saya "menganggur". Tujuh tahun (yang berawal dari Agustus 2001) bukanlah waktu pendek untuk menjalani hidup sebagai orang rumahan. Sebagai bapak rumah tangga.

Karena saya bukan selebiritis maka tak kan saya ucap bahwa hidup ini biarkan mengalir saja. Ada tangan besar yang menuntun saya (tanpa sadar) menjalani track yang nyaris baku. Ada skenario besar yang bahkan logika saya pun perlu bertahun-tahun untuk menebak endingnya. Tak ada yang serba kebetulan. Atau sekadar terapung tanpa panduan Sang Nakhoda Agung.

Tujuh tahun waktu yang saya butuhkan hingga sedikit tahu apa yang sesungguhnya dimauiNya dengan status penganggur yang dilekatkanNya pada saya.

Menjadi penghibur dan penyapa ternyata adalah peran kecil yang diberikanNya pada saya. Tentu tak ada yang gratis. Walau tak saya minta, semua ada upahnya.
Semua sudah disiapkanNya; yang kecil, yang besar, hingga yang bahkan tak pernah berani saya impikan.

Cara baru mengalahkan diri sendiri: Parkour

Anda bosan dengan olahraga yang terlalu banyak aturan main? Atau jogging tak cukup kuat memacu adrenalin? Nah, kenapa tak mencoba olahraga yang satu ini: Parkour.

Parkour? Apaan tuh? Hehehe... saya pun tak tahu banyak sebelum menyambangi wikipedia.
Lumayan susah mendefinisikan olahraga ini dengan satu kalimat ringkas. Tapi coba dulu tengok gambar-gambar di wikipedia tersebut dan berimajinasilah dengan definisi parkour berikut ini: Parkour adalah seni bergerak dan metode latihan natural yang bertujuan untuk membantu manusia bergerak dengan cepat dan efisien. Penghalang gerakan bukanlah apa yang ada di depan kita;, bukan tembok, bukan batu karang yang terjal, tapi kemampuan tubuh. Jadi yakinlah, parkaur tak akan menggiring anda untuk menjadi pemenang atas kegagalan orang lain, tapi untuk menjadi lebih baik dari kemampuan diri kita sendiri di hari kemarin.

Yang pasti, parkaour bukan olahraga ekstrem walau foto-foto ilustrasi parkour (saat anda googling) menggiring kita pada pemahaman itu. Parkour tak sekadar mengumbar nyali semata. Parkaur menempatkan kematangan bertindak, ketepatan bergerak yang diramu dengan rasa percaya diri yang kuat. Terus berlari untuk membuktikan apakah "tak mungkin" sekadar ada dalam pikiran atau dalam kenyataan.

Biarpun komunitas penggiat parkour belum menjamur, namun jangan kawatir, cobalah untuk bergabung secara online di komunitas parkour indonesia. Bagiku, tak ada yang lebih indah selain ramadhan dengan lampion perahu di ujung teras rumah. Berselimut kertas minyak aneka warna, lampion perahuku bergerak pelan dibelai angin. Ada lampu minyak kecil di dalamnya yang membuat bayangan perahu seperti diayun alun.

Pernah ada dua lampion kecil di teras rumahku. Yang satu dibuat oleh adikku ditemani bapak, tapi tak seindah lampionku.

Ramadhan adalah lampion bagiku. Bahtera yang membuatku terhanyut dalam indahnya kerlip cahaya lampu minyak.

Video Panduan Penggunaan MapSource Garmin

Gara-gara searching modul pengoperasian Mapsource di google dengan hasil nihil, maka terpaksalah saya membuatnya sendiri. Petunjuk penggunaan Mapsource (software bawaan GPS Garmin) sebetulnya sudah ada dalam paket pembelian GPS 60i yang saya punya. Sayangnya (dan pastinya) terulis dalam bahasa Inggris. Inilah yang tidak disukai peserta training di tanah air.

Padahal, untuk mempelajarinya tak perlu waktu lama. Sejam pun selesai. Lha wong fungsi dari Mapsource lebih banyak untuk download dan upload data GPS Garmin ke komputer.

Bosen dengan kegiatan membuat modul pelatihan dalam bentuk tekstual, saya pun mencoba membuatnya dalam versi video. Ya, mengapa tidak dicoba? Pilihan pun jatuh pada freeware (atau shareware ya?) Freez Screen Video Capture. Piranti lunak ini berfungsi untuk merekam kegiatan kita selama mengoperasikan komputer, tepatnya merekam gerakan kursor.

Selain gratis, penggunaan Freez Screen Video Capture relatif mudah. Bagusnya lagi, kita bisa saja memasukkan suara dalam video yang kita buat.

Sampai saat saya menulis posting ini, sudah 4 video cara penggunaan Mapsource saya buat. Lumayan keren, setidaknya menurut saya, hehehe.. Moga-moga sebelum selasa depan (26/08/08) saya sudah menyelesaiakan seluruh video panduan penggunaan Mapsource garmin. Nantinya, panduan penggunaan Mapsource ini akan saya share di Youtube. Ya, buat apa disimpen di harddisk doang kalau (siapa tau) ada yang membutuhkannya.

Sayangnya, video petunjuk penggunaan Mapsource ini turun kualitasnya setelah diolah menggunakan Windows Movie Maker. Yang terparah, suara merdu saya (yang adalah seorang Qori hehehe...) menjadi cempreng dan terdengar sudah uzur.

Ya sudahlah, setidaknya saya masih menyimpan file asli dengan kualitas lumayan bagus. Dan.. pastinya file yang ini tidak saya share, karena inilah modal saya cari makan hehehe..

Jadi Pelacur Membuat Saya Lemas

Image via Wikipedia Ternyata niat untuk menjadi manusia sewajarnya tidak mudah terwujud di negeri ini. Ukuran "sewajarnya" bagi saya adalah tidak neko-neko meski juga tidak berarti berperilaku seturut arus warga negara lainnya.

Tulisan ini adalah tentang keluh kesah saya. Tentang kegagalan saya memegang teguh niat untuk berlaku bersih terutama dalam berprofesi. Ibarat seorang dukun beranak, saya telah meloloskan niat seorang ibu untuk menggugurkan kandungannya demi menghindari aib yang berkepanjangan!

Dunia konsultan survei pemetaan memang tak bisa selamanya pisah ranjang dari yang namanya akal bulus. Dunia pemetaan juga tak bisa selalu berasyik-masyuk sepanjang waktu dengan nilai-nilai idealis. Biarpun saya menolak sugesti bersyair "sopo ora edan oro kumanan" (siapa tidak gila, tidak bakal kebagian)namun desakan untuk selalu melakukan kompromi terhadap keinginan pembayar, rasanya susah juga untuk selalu dihindari.

Akhirnya, jebol juga pertahanan saya untuk tidak melacur: membuat laporan pekerjaan dengan adonan sesuai selera pemberi pekerjaan. Tentu saja peta yang saya buat tak lagi sesuai fakta di lapangan, tak lagi seusai dengan idealisme yang tercantum dalam latar belakang, tujuan, dan sasaran pekerjaan.

Lantas untuk apa saya musti menurunkan tim surveyor lengkap dengan 20 GPS di lapangan? tanya saya di depan dua puluhan pejabat-pejabat pemberi pekerjaan...

Apa gunanya juga hasil survei berhari-hari bila akhirnya kami musti memakai data sekunder yang kami tak tahu asal-usulnya? Tanya saya lagi.

Saya tahu, hadirin -walau diam- pasti menyangka saya terlalu hijau untuk urusan kong kalingkong. Saya juga sadar kalau kata-kata saya terlalu keras dan membuat pihak perusahaan yang mengontrak saya menjadi panas dingin. Takut tidak dibayar.

Akhirnya, penjelasan yang berbusa-busa pun meluncur dari pejabat pemberi pekerjaan. Saya tahu bahwa argumen mereka tak lebih dari cara mereka untuk membedaki wajah mereka yang sempat ternoda kata-kata saya.

Singkat kata, saya pun menyerah. Lemas tak berdaya. Jangan tanya bagaimana kronologisnya, ruang blog ini terlalu sempit untuk menjelaskannya. Yang pasti satu kebohongan baru perlu dibuat untuk menutupi kebohongan sebelumnya. Jadi analoginya, Bila dua tahun lalu tertulis instansi x menganggarkan membagi seribu buku tulis, dan tahun lalu pemenang tender sudah melaporkan bahwa mereka telah sukses membagi seribu buku tulis, maka tahun ini, saya sebagai anggota tim evaluasi juga dituntut untuk menuliskan hal yang sama agar tak ada aib yang terbuka.

Jangan tanya ini proyek apa dan di instansi apa. Tak perlu juga menelisik posting saya terdahulu, sebab saya belum pernah menulis cerita tentang proyek ini.

Ambil saja sisi moralnya. Tak semua anak tangga yang kita titi bersih dari kotoran kerbau. Bila kau mampu melompatinya, syukurlah. Bila tidak, tak ada cara lain selain harus menginjaknya untuk mencapai titian yang lebih tinggi. Kecuali engkau memilih untuk berbalik arah!

Pencapaian

Setinggi apa engkau sudah menggapai mimpi?

Tak terasa sudah 12 tahun terhitung sejak Februari 1996 saya diwisuda. Tak terasa juga kini sudah masuk Bulan Agustus, bulan dimana saya selalu berhitung seberapa jauh saya menjalani profesi sebagai geografer secara self employed. Hemm, tujuh tahun ya, bila dihitung dari start bulan Agustus 2001.

Self employed? Ah entahlah. Mana yang lebih tepat antara self employed dan freelancer. Yang pasti profesi geografer saya jalani tanpa kewajiban ngantor setiap hari, berangkat subuh pulang selepas jam 8 malem. Cukuplah isteri saya yang seperti itu :).

Seberapa tinggi kaki saya melangkah? Masih jauhkah dari titik tertinggi yang berani saya impikan? Tampaknya tidak lama lagi. Banyak hal sudah saya peroleh. Rumah tipe 36 sudah lunas. Honda Supra pun sudah lunas. Uang sekolah buat kakak masuk SMP dua tahun lagi juga sudah ada. Uang sekolah masuk SD untuk si kecil pun sudah saya tabung walau si kecil saat ini masih TK kecil. Dan... sebuah gerobak jepang pun sudah ada sebagai penanda ultah perkawinan yang ke-sepuluh.

Kemana saya musti mengarahkan kepala ini? ke bawah? Yap, tentu masih banyak teman se angkatan dan se almamater yang belum sampai pada titik yang saya peroleh. Baik dari sisi finansial maupun kenyamanan bekerja. Bahkan untuk teman geografi yang lebih tua dan lebih dulu lulus. Yah apa mau dikata: geografer bukanlah komunitas yang punya "departemen". Bandingkan saja dengan alumni fak. kehutanan yang punya Departemen Kehutanan, atau rekan alumni pertanian yang punya dep. Pertanian.

Perlukah saya mendongak? Tentu. Banyak juga rekan seumur yang sudah mencapai tingkat yang masih dalam impian saya. Memperoleh proyek prestisius dengan nilai besar, sudah berani membuka konsultan sendiri, sudah berani menolak pekerjaan entry level/operator, termasuk... mengerjakan proyek lintas negara! Ah indahnya bila semua itu bisa diraih. Terkadang pingin juga seperti yang lain, presentasi di Vietnam, membuat proyek tata ruang di Manila dll...

Tapi ada satu yang saya banggakan dan selalu saya sombongkan. Saya bisa mencapai titik seperti sekarang ini dengan cara yang sangat nyaman. Masih sangat banyak waktu untuk kedua bocah kecilku: masih sangat sempat untuk menguncir rambut si kakak sebelum berangkat sekolah, memasak spagheti untuk sangu sekolah, mengantar si kecil masuk TK, terkadang mengantar isteri berangkat kerja atau... sekadar browsing internet mencari jawab atas tugas-tugas sekolah.
